Ode to J&M

Having been literally born into the shed business and currently facing my 55th birthday, I think of myself as one who, at the very least, has a pretty keen awareness of the industry. A decade or more ago, it was becoming quite clear that the way folks shopped for and bought sheds was changing. Ready or not, the shift towards large purchases on-line was happening.

To keep up with the changing times, I knew we needed a plan that didn’t rely on the old dealer network. The search began for a marketing partner who could help us navigate what had become uncharted ground.

Customer acquisition, dollar value per sale, search optimization, and branding are all buzzwords that were not new to me. So, whenever they were included in a sales pitch from a prospective marketing firm, my eyes would begin to glaze over. Same old, same old. All I heard was, “spend more dollars on radio, TV, newspaper … or change some keywords and just spend more on Google Ads.” Sadly, I did try a few of these to little or no measurable effect.

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT, ONE DAY, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL THAT PIQUED MY INTEREST.
This email was from a marketing firm that sounded a bit unusual. In my mind, I had nothing to lose, so I set an appointment. This was to be the beginning of total change.

RATHER THAN EMPTY BUZZWORDS THAT LEAD NOWHERE, J&M SPEAKS A DIFFERENT KIND OF LANGUAGE.
J&M shows more interest in “who we desire to be within the marketplace” and “‘what we dream our future would look like” than how big a check we can write.

Now, make no mistake; it costs money to do marketing right. But my personal experience has been that spending money with J&M is more of an investment in my company than anything I have tried previously.
